The Manager of Strategic Analytics is a key role on Meetup’s Strategy Team. You’ll be part of a SWAT team that conducts extensive research to inform and influence the direction of our product and company. We are looking for a unique individual who will be our internal go-to person for all things quantitative. 

This role is a blend of a traditional business analyst, market researcher & social scientist. 
 

Primary Responsibilities and Activities include:

Unearthing Insights & Inspiring Meetup Colleagues to Use Them

* Mine our database to draw actionable insights out of customer usage patterns (i.e. factors that make groups successful, influence churn, motivate groups to start, motivate member participation)
* Develop customer segments as needed
* Proactively inspire colleagues at Meetup to address opportunities they've assessed

 Reporting and Optimization

* Weekly/monthly reporting & analysis of key metrics

* Monitor & analyze effectiveness of new features, web site changes, marketing, community & outreach programs
* Proactively work with teams throughout the company to optimize initiatives based on data-driven insights

Tracking and Extracting Data
* Perform ad-hoc queries of Meetup database
* Define data Meetup should start capturing for strategic analysis and database marketing
* Buy/build and manage reporting tools/vendors (Omniture, SAS, etc)
* Pull data from webtracking software (Omniture/Google Analytics)
* Ensure Meetup captures, stores and can access data needed for strategic analysis
* List management

 

Other activities may include:

Data Driven Optimization/Programs

* Design, execute and analyze ongoing customer surveys

* Develop, execute and analyze split testing routines for key website experiences
* Develop and manage internal database marketing initiatives, including targeting specification and list management

 Strategic Analysis

* Monthly strategic modeling & forecasting
* Periodic data-driven strategic/economic analysis of potential growth opportunities (new services, price optimization, new markets, etc)

Job Requirements

Experience
* A degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Market Research, Economics, Psychology/Sociology, Physics, Operations Research, or other discipline involving experimental design, statistical modeling and quantitative analysis of experimental data
* Extensive experience working with large datasets, particularly with statistical software packages (SAS, R, SPSS or similar) applied to real-world business situations
* Market research, direct marketing & strategic consulting experience preferred

Skills
* Superior project management skills and attention to detail
* Ability to explain complex ideas in plain English
* Proven ability to get stuff done in fast changing environment
* Experience in survey design a plus

Computer Skills

* Extensive experience working with large datasets, particularly with statistical software packages (SAS, R, SPSS or similar) applied to real-world business situations
* High proficiency with SQL
