InvestorPlace Media (fka Phillips Investment Resources) is the world's leading investment newsletter publisher. We provide individual investors with actionable investing recommendations from professional investment advisors, such as Louis Navellier, John Markman, Tobin Smith, and Dan Wiener.

Following a change of ownership to a private equity fund, Avista Capital Partners, InvestorPlace Media is aggressively investing in new business initiatives to drive growth and supplement our core subscription business. One of our top priorities is to build a sizeable revenue stream from online advertising by significantly expanding our presence on the web with free content and tools on sites like www.investorplace.com, www.optionszone.com, www.navelliergrowth.com, and www.dolans.com. This is an opportunity to join a small team of approximately 20 people who have been tasked with building a new business for a strong, stable employer. InvestorPlace Media is looking for a web analytics professional who will report to the VP & General Manager of the InvestorPlace Media Network (a Darden alum). The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in using Internet site traffic measurement tools, ideally for an online media company. The candidate should be able to transfer research data into actionable, strategic business insights. The web analyst will use site traffic, registration and other data to answer key business questions. Site traffic information is used throughout our organization to help develop products and campaigns, optimize site usage and navigation, and increase knowledge of our site audiences.
 
A successful Manager of Web Analytics will hit the ground running with strong analytical skills, attention to detail, online analytics experience and the ability to quickly synthesize large amounts of data to support decision making in a fast-paced, data driven environment. This position will work closely with departments across the company including Ad Sales, Marketing, Business Development, Editorial, and Technology.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Analyze web site performance, trends and click stream path activity to provide data driven business insights that inform product improvements, enhancements and new product development
  • Provide weekly, monthly, ad hoc and campaign specific reporting in order to understand traffic patterns, site metrics, marketing performance, and optimization opportunities
  • Create and maintain key reports, dashboards and analyses
  • Develop best practice approaches for analyzing user behavior on the websites
  • Measure the effectiveness of marketing campaigns, and create tools and methodology for allocating marketing budgets across various marketing channels in order to maximize audience growth and engagement
  • Provide ongoing training and support for users of web analytics tool
  • Work closely with InvestorPlace Media colleagues on cross-over issues that involve site traffic, such as search marketing, marketing promotions, registration, paid subscriptions and content syndication

    Job Requirements

    Experience
  • At least 2 years experience with web analytics tools (Net Insight, Omniture, WebTrends, Coremetrics, Google Analytics, etc.)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with HTML and JavaScript a plus
  • Familiarity with ad serving technologies (DART in particular) and panel-based metrics (Nielsen Net View and ComScore) a plus
  • Strong analytical and communication skills; must be a team player who excels in juggling multiple projects and working across department lines. Attention to detail and accuracy is critical.
  • Experience with modeling, business analysis, campaign performance measurement, and forecasting preferred
  • Action-oriented approach, able to turn data into insights and concrete recommendations for improvement
  • Bachelor's degree required, MBA is a plus
  • Education Required:Bachelors
